What is an experience? An experience is all that you carry within yourself after doing something. Getting down or climbing stairs can be an experience – bad if you fall – but also share some wonderful food or explore pristine and wild places.
What we want to try to tell you instead are the experiences you can try traveling in a wonderful land like Sicily. Sea and mountains, rustic landscapes and large cities chase each other on the island, creating truly incredible natural shows.
The sea is not only the outline but also the main engine of the island. Heart of the Mediterranean, Sicily has been for centuries an encounter of different cultures, of indigenous and sophisticated languages of which there is still traces of them today.
The ports of the island were first landed for the great Greek ships, passing through the Roman Empire up to the most recent Arab and Spanish dominations. Taking and sharing from the history of this place represents the experience that until now we have described and that we are sure will not leave you indifferent when you leave.
“Sicily is the pearl of this century… Since old times, travelers from the most far away country… boast of its merits, praise its territory, rave about its extraordinary beauty, and highlight its strengths… because it brings together the best aspects from every other country.”
Al-Idrisi Arab geographer, The Book of Roger, 1138 – 54
“The purity of the outlines, the softness of everything, saggy of colors, the harmonious unity of the sky with the sea and the sea with the land … who saw them a only once, he owns them for life.”
Johann Wolfgang Goethe – Italienische Reise
“Sicily has suffered 13 foreign dominations from which she has taken both the best and the worst. The sequence of different cultures has made Sicily a fascinating place, quite unlike any other.”
Andrea Camilleri – Italian Writer
